PI: Shannon Miles, PhD
Study Description: This is a mixed method study that uses a survey and qualitative interviews with the goal of improving access to PTSD for Special Operations Forces (SOF).
Goal/Aim of study: The project’s specific aims are to (1) identify barriers and facilitators of accessing PTSD treatment that are most important to the SOF community via an online confidential survey of all relevant stakeholders in the health care delivery process; (2) identify culturally appropriate ways to improve access to PTSD treatments by conducting qualitative interviews with active-duty SOF; and (3) partner with the command advisory group, which includes leadership, health care providers, family members, and veterans previously in SOF, to develop policy recommendations and educational material fit with SOF culture.
