Since 1999 the Tampa VA and its regional hub (VISN 8) have worked to achieve excellence in research on the cause and effects of safe patient handling and falls injuries on caregivers and patients. These pages contain some of the implementation tools that you can adapt to your own needs. In addition to research, through this Foundation we also provide an annual conference where we can showcase work being done in these areas. Exhibit booths will be online where you can explore or live chat with exhibitors. Poster presentations will be available for download as well as live chat with the presenters.

Our annual conference provides participants with the knowledge, skills and attitudes for making healthcare safer for all healthcare workers and patients. The ultimate goal is for universal safe patient handling and safe mobility in all health care settings. Participants are exposed to cutting edge research, best practices, and lessons learned in safe patient handling and mobility-related adverse events such as patient falls and fall-related injuries. This conference includes diverse learning opportunities, including live virtual presentations, the ability to download all conference materials, post-conference workshops as well as virtual training in the latest technologies. And we’ve replaced our opening night party with a cocktail hour…don’t miss it!
